Northerners are not tight-fisted - let’s get that straight from the start. Look after your pennies and the pounds will look after themselves, as me mam used to say.

Unless you’re lounging on a yacht with your cash stashed all over the world in off-shore accounts, like most of us, you’re probably feeling the pinch. With the price of pretty much everything going through the roof, being savvy with your stash is more important than ever.

Here at Owt for Nowt, we believe that regardless of the state of the economy (which, let’s face it, isn’t looking rosy), we shouldn’t be paying any more for things than we have to.

But with everyone after a slice, it’s not easy. As the ancient Northern proverb goes: You don’t get owt for nowt.

It’s our mission to prove that saying wrong. There’s lots you can do for nowt, or next to nowt, you just have to use your imagination. Where there’s no chance of a freebie, there’s still plenty of ways you can save a few bob.
